Corduroy Hat for the Columbus Clingstones
Challenge: Design a hat for the Columbus Clingstone’s inaugural season
Goals: Create a fun, colorful hat design that keeps in line with the Clingstone’s brand guidelines and visual identity
RESEARCH + INSPIRATION
After researching the team’s origins and location in the Columbus, Georgia area, I created a moodboard to gather my ideas and inspiration. I loved the retro feel of the Clingstone’s logo, so I drew inspiration from older MiLB and MLB merchandise designs.

I designed the hat using a template of Official League’s corduroy hat to make sure all of the specifications were correct. I created four different versions of the hat to give the team options to chose from, with each version having different color ways and brand elements. The design that was ultimately chosen to go into production was my fourth design, a green and white corduroy hat with an embroidered logo on the front and side.
Final
The final hat design that went to production was a white corduroy with a green bill, green button, and black leather strap. It had two Clingstone logos embroidered on it, one on the front of the hat and one on the left side. The hat was available to buy on the Columbus Clingstones website, and it sold out not long after its release!
